Volunteer with us

Why volunteer with us?

Whether you’ve got a few hours to spare or are ready to take on a bigger role, there’s a way you can make a real impact.

Every year, thousands of Australians are diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers and disorders. Many need a stem cell transplant to survive, but finding a match can be like finding a needle in a haystack. That’s where our volunteers come in.

By helping us raise awareness, run events, and inspire more Australians to join the donor registry, you’ll be part of the reason someone finds the match they desperately need.

Ways to volunteer

Help us at events

Join us at donor drives, festivals, university campuses or workplace events. You’ll help welcome people, answer questions, and guide new donors through the registration process.

Become a supervisor

Want to take your impact to the next level? You can become an Accredited Recruitment Supervisor—trained and authorised to run official donor recruitment events on our behalf.

Become a Community Advocate

Help spread the word in your own community, workplace, or school. We’ll provide everything you need, from flyers to social media templates—to make it easy.

Share Your Story

If you or someone you love has been affected by blood cancer or stem cell donation, sharing your story can be incredibly powerful. We can help you craft and amplify your message.

Current volunteer opportunities

We run events across the country and are always looking for local champions. Let us know where you are and we’ll find the right fit for you.

You don’t need medical knowledge or a huge time commitment to make a big difference. Just a willingness to help, and a belief in the power of community. Together, we can help every patient find their match.

Ready to get involved?

As part of the volunteer application process, you’ll create an account through our volunteer platform, Volaby, where you’ll complete a few required steps and share some information about yourself.

From there, you’ll be invited to attend an introduction call to learn more about:

  • the different volunteering pathways available
  • the impact volunteers make as part of the Stem Cell Donors Australia community
  • what’s involved and expected of recruiter volunteers

We’re excited to welcome passionate people who want to help grow Australia’s stem cell donor registry and make a life-saving difference.
