Why you matter
Why stem cell transplants?
Stem cell transplants are commonly used to treat cancers that impact blood cells, such as leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and myelodysplastic syndromes. They can also be used for conditions like neuroblastoma, Ewing sarcoma, recurrent brain tumors in children, germ cell tumors, and testicular cancer.

Why donate
Donating your stem cells can be a life-saving gift for people suffering from blood cancers and other serious blood disorders.
Here are key reasons why donating stem cells is so impactful:
Save lives
By donating stem cells, you offer patients with blood disorders their last hope for recovery and a second chance at life.
Unique match
Finding a stem cell match is challenging, especially outside the family. Your donation could be a patient’s only match worldwide.
Simple with few side effects
Modern stem cell donation is safe and simple, typically collected from the bloodstream in a process like blood donation, allowing a fast return to normal activities.
Personal fulfilment
Donating stem cells brings deep satisfaction, knowing you’ve made a life-changing impact.
Am I eligible to become a donor?
If you’re between 18 and 35, you can register to become a donor, and you’ll stay on the registry until the age of 60.
You must also have a valid Medicare card and be willing to donate anonymously to any patient worldwide. However, all donations are collected within Australia.
