I realise it may have taken time out of your life and been inconvenient however your sacrifice has given me a second chance of life, I have a wife and family who I thought I would be leaving but because of you we have the opportunity to spend many more joyful experiences together. You have inspired some of my friends to join the bone marrow register because they’ve seen how your selflessness has changed my outcome and they hope they can do the same for others I want to thank you for what you have done for me and my family Forever grateful Recipient

But nothing compared to the following when i got sick and started living off blood transfusions until you saved my life with a SCT transplant. It was hard and changed my future completely but even with all the challenges that came with it, I would do it again, as it means I am here today. And I am here because of you. To think a complete stranger from across the world saved my life blows my mind still every day and I don’t think I will ever find the words to express mine and my family’s gratitude for giving me this gift, the gift of life. Especially when you did not have to be so generous with your time and commit to such a task. So in the mean time, until the right words are found, Thank you.

What words can convey the gift of life? I am beyond thankful for the kind stranger that spent their time donating their cells to save my life. Your gift has given me a whole new lifetime, and I'm not sure I could ever convey the gratitude I have for this. Every day that I wake up, I am so thankful that my kind stranger chose to help me. Thank you.

After chemo treatments it was found that it wasn't enough to survive. I would need a transplant. My medical team would offer me that hope for the future. It was a very difficult process to endure. But how grateful I was that a lady would put herself out at a particularly busy time of year to offer me another chance of life. I did send a letter to this wonderful person in my gratitude. The wonderful care I received in hospital from both the doctors and nurses was memorable. There have been some challenges to my health since the transplant but they have been overcome and now I feel well and quite strong with no obvious side effects seven years from the transplant. I am on a chemo tablet - 4 a day which hopefully will keep what I believe are extra medullary lumps away.
